Translate comments and DMs

Read foreign-language comments and DMs in your language and translate your replies back.

Brandwise can translate comments and DMs written in other languages, so your team can read everything in one language and still reply in the customer's.

Turn on translation for a page

  1. Open the page's settings: Social Inbox > Comments > Page settings, or the gear next to the page in Settings > Social Media.
  2. In the Language panel, choose a language in Translate comments into.
  3. Optionally turn on Show the translation first so your team sees the translated text by default, with the original a click away.

The setting covers both comments and DMs on that page. It applies to new messages that arrive after you set it; older ones aren't translated.

Read a translation

When a comment or DM was translated, a toggle appears next to the text. Click Show translation or Show original text to switch between the two.

Translate your reply

  1. Write your reply in the reply box.
  2. Click Translate. The tooltip shows the target language, for example "Translate to Spanish".
  3. Check the translated text, then send it.

The Translate button appears when the page has a translation language set and the customer wrote in a different language.

What language AI replies use

AI replies and drafts are written in the customer's language, unless your brand instructions say otherwise. You don't need to translate them before sending.

Other channels

  • Email has its own translation setting. See The email inbox.
  • Live chat doesn't translate messages.
